High Speed Steel (HSS) cold saw blades come in a variety of diameters and number of teeth, depending on 
material & type the cold saw blades will be cutting. Rule of thumb is higher number of teeth for thin wall or hard steels, coarse teeth for softer materials and solid materials.
The cold saw blade or wheel can be HSS or tungsten carbide tipped (TCT) depending on material to be cut. They are called "cold saw blades" because they transfer all the energy and heat created during the cutting process to the chip. This enables the blade and the work material to remain cold. Both types of blades are resharpenable and may be used many times before being discarded. Cold saw blades are used to cut metal using a relatively slow rotational speed. Typically cold saw blades range 250mm – 400mm, 180 teeth – 400teeth. Cutting thickness 1.5mm thickness - 3.5mm
The main advantage of a cold saw is there is little heat produced, hence no work hardening in the material. Ideally for cutting thin wall sections to a close tolerance.
HSS cold saw blades are fed at a constant rate with a very high chip
load per tooth. A cold saw cut produces minimal burr, no sparks, no discoloration and no dust.

Cold saw machines are a general purpose drop saw machine to cut
, mitre, bevel solid & sectional pieces of steel, etc. The material is clamped in the cold saw’s vice, at a desired angle or parallel. The cold saw wheel or circular HSS blade is lowered into the material by the operator. Coolant is required to flood the job to prevent teeth clogging up with swarf shavings.
