A non-digital screw thread micrometer is designed to mount easily interchangeable screw thread anvils/thread spindle-tips for measuring a wide range of screw threads. The highly stable frame incorporates a heat shield to preserve accuracy over extended measuring sessions. A ratchet stop guarantees repeatable measurement.

    

The screw thread anvils come as a matched pair, that are fitted to the screw thread micrometer frame. Each screw thread anvil set covers a range of TPI or pitch in 60° (metric or UNF/UNC) or 55° (Whitworth BSW). 

Be aware when purchasing Mitutoyo screw thread micrometer, the screw thread anvils are an additional item as a pair or complete set of screw thread anvils.

Starrett 575 & Starrett 585 Screw Thread  micrometers have a pointed spindle and a double V-anvil, both shaped to contact the screw thread as shown in the drawing. The micrometer reading therefore gives the pitch diameter. 

760FL Electronic Screw Thread Comparator Micrometer and 760MEFL Electronic Screw Thread Comparator Micrometer are digital versions of a screw thread micrometer.
