TPI GAUGE – (“thread per inch”, thread gauges)

gauges.jpg gauges01.jpg

A thread gauge, also known as a screw pitch gauge or pitch gauge or TPI gauge, is used to measure the pitch or lead of a screw thread. The TPI gauge is an ISO metric pitch gauge or a thread per inch gauge ( Imperial). Thread pitch gauges are used as a reference tool in determining the pitch of a thread that is on a screw or in a tapped hole.

The TPI gauge is not used as a precision measuring instrument. This device allows the user to determine the profile of the given thread and quickly categorize the thread by shape and pitch. This device also saves time, in that it removes the need for the user to measure and calculate the thread pitch of the threaded item.

The thread gauge is placed against a thread, so the correct teeth blade aligns exactly with the known thread to determine the correct pitch or TPI (teeth per inch).

RADIUS GAUGES

gauges02.jpg gauges03.jpg gauges04.jpg gauges05.jpg

A radius gauge, also known as a fillet gauge is a tool used to measure the radius of an object.
Radius gauges require a bright light behind the object to be measured. The radius gauge blade is placed against the edge to be checked and any light leakage between the blade and edge indicates a mismatch that requires correction.

A good set of radius gauges will offer both convex and concave sections, and allow for their application in awkward locations.

Every leaf has a different radius. The material of the leaves is stainless steel. It is of two types: 1. Internal 2. External. It is used to check the radius of inner and outer surfaces.
Radius gauges come in Metric radius gauge sets or imperial gauge sets.

FEELER GAUGE

feeler gauges.jpg feeler gauges01.jpg feeler gauges02.jpg

A feeler gauge is a tool used to measure gap widths. Feeler gauges are mostly used in engineering to measure the clearance between two parts.

Feeler gauges consist of a number of small lengths of steel of different thicknesses with measurements marked on each piece. feeler gauge blades are flexible enough that, even if they are all on the same hinge, several can be stacked together to gauge intermediate values. It is common to have two sets for imperial units (typically measured in thousandths of an inch) and metric (typically measured in hundredths of a millimetre) measurements.

Thickness Gauge with straight leaves are used in automotive, aviation, diesel and farm equipment manufacture and services and also in jig, fixture, gauge and experimental work. Especially useful in adjusting tappets, spark plugs, distributor points, checking bearing clearances and gear play, fitting pistons, rings and pins and gauging narrow slots

A similar device with wires of specific diameter instead of flat blades is used to set the gap in spark plugs to the correct size; this is done by increasing or decreasing the gap until the gauge of the correct size just fits inside the gap.

The feeler gauge lengths of steel are sometimes called leaves or blades, although they have no sharp edge.

A taper feeler gauge is a feeler gauge of tapered, as opposed to parallel, shape. The blade of the gauge is of a constant thickness, and the two types of gauge are used in a similar way.

Miller’s Tooling can also supply feeler gauges as sets or alternatively we can also supply the feeler gauge blade lengths of 12” blades or similar.

THREAD GRINDING GAUGE
(SCREW CUTTING GAUGE  OR   CENTRE GAUGE)

gauges06.jpg gauges07.jpg

This thread grinding gauge is used to as a guide, to grind HSS toolsteel to the correct angle for thread cutting on a lathe. Also referred to as a centre gauge or a screw cutting gauge. Either way, Miller’s Tooling can assist you here.

Moore & Wright No. 200 thread grinding gauge

•    Screw Cutting Gauge
•    Angle 60, 55, 47.5 and 14.5 degrees
•    Thread form used SI, ISO, US, Whitworth, British Association and     ACME
•    Traditional engineers screw cutting gauge
•    Suitable for most standard metric and imperial thread forms
•    Accurately milled angles for precise evaluation of thread form

PLUG & THREAD RING GAUGES ( GO / NOGO GAUGES)

gauges08.png gauges09.jpg gauges10.jpg

Miller’s Tooling is a supplier of thread ring gauges and thread plug gauges, including GO / NOGO gauges , RH/LH( right hand and left hand). We have huge ranges of thread gauges avail;  which include UN (UN,UNR,UNC,UNF,UNS,UNEF), Metric, ACME, STUB-ACME,BSPP (G), BSPT(R), NPT,NPTF, Trapezoidal , MJ, UNJ,UNJC,UNJF,UNJEF,UNJS and whitworth, etc. Miller’s Tooling not only have thread gauges, but also have plain gauges. Complete with certificates for quality control if required.

Thread plug gauge GO NOGO is used to check “nuts” (internal threaded parts). The common design is Taperlock, one end is the GO end, another end is the NOGO end, they are connected together by one handle. but this design is just suited for small sizes. For large sizes, the two ends will be separate.

       • Metric thread gauges from M1-M200 ,6H/6g, special tolerance requirements available.
       • UN, UNF, UNS, UNEF thread gauges have size from 0-6″, plug gauges tolerance: 2B、3B,
          ring gauges tolerance: 2A、3A.
       • ACME thread gauges from 1/4″-5″ include ACME, Stub ACME , tolerance: 2G, 3G, 4G.
       • BSPP(G),BSPT(R) from 1/8″-4″
       • NPT thread gauges from 1/16″-6″
       • Trapezoidal thread gauges from Tr14-Tr140, plug gauges tolerance: 7H、8H、9H,
          ring gauges tolerance: 7h、7e、8e、8c、9c
       • BSW/BSF whitworth thread gauge

This involute gear tooth gauge provides quick and easy way to determine the diametral pitch (imperial) and/or the module pitch (metric) on a gear or a rack. Simply run the gear along the gear tooth gauge to determine the correct pitch.

Available in gear tooth MODULE gauge in 20° pressure angle, gear tooth Diametrical Pitch gauges in either 20° pressure angle or 14 ½° pressure angle.
